Workshop: Repurpose Food Scraps to Make a Body Scrub and Bath Salts (DIY Skincare workshop – Plastic-free July)

Occasion: Plastic-Free July celebrations
Background
In June 2024, 469 Latrobe Street’s lobby was transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity and sustainability as part of Plastic Free July. Partnering with Wellineux, we hosted a pop-up workshop that empowered participants to repurpose food scraps into luxurious, eco-friendly DIY skincare products, such as body scrubs and bath salts. This event exemplified how simple, everyday actions can contribute to reducing waste while promoting self-care.
Workshop Highlights
➡ Hands-On Learning: Attendees were guided through the process of turning common kitchen scraps into natural body scrubs and bath salts. The workshop showcased how sustainability can be seamlessly integrated into daily routines.
➡ Walk-In Format: The open and accessible format allowed for 100 participants to join throughout the day, making it a lively and engaging activation.
➡ Creative Engagement: The interactive nature of the workshop encouraged participants to experiment with ingredients, inspiring them to rethink waste and explore DIY alternatives.
Impact
The workshop was part of 469 Latrobe Street’s commitment to fostering a sustainable and eco-conscious workplace culture. By providing employees and visitors with practical skills, the event highlighted the importance of reducing plastic waste and embracing environmentally friendly practices.
