Melt and Pour soaps are fun and easy to make, plus it’s possible to use a lot of different natural and organic ingredients to change the smell and appearance of the soaps. They are great as little gifts or just guest soaps, and very customizable.

Melt and Pour Soap Making

What is the Melt and Pour Soap Making technique?

Melt and Pour Soap Making/Crafting is the name of a process that involves melting a soap base (called “Melt and Pour” and available on our website) before adding ingredients such as essential oils, colorants or exfoliating agents. The soap base is poured into a mold and, once fully hardened, the result is a soap that is able to be used right away.

Melt and Pour bases are made of saponified oils (just like normal soaps). Our Melt and Pour base is also palm-free and vegan.

Ready for a try? Let’s melt…and pour ^^

To make a Melt and Pour Soap, you will need:

Equipment

  • Pyrex or other heat-resistant containers
  • A spoon
  • A silicone mold
  • Optional: kitchen scale (for quantities)

Ingredients

If you use essential oils, please remember to check this guide for necessary precautions.

In terms of quantities, I usually recommend:

  • 95% or more of Melt and Pour base
  • 5% or less remaining ingredients

Preparation steps:

  • Step 1: cut the quantity of Melt and Pour soap base you need.
  • double boiler Step 2: melt the soap base in the microwave or in a double boiler on the stove

Be careful: when the soap bases are melted, they are really hot. If you are making soaps with a child, please supervise this step closely.

  • Step 3: add the other ingredients and mix well.

If the base hardens before you finish mixing the ingredients, simply melt it again and add the rest of your ingredients after.

  • Step 4:pour into the mold pour into the mold.
  • Step 5: wait a few hours for the soaps to harden before emptying the mold.

If there are any bubbles on the soaps, spray them with alcohol once they are poured (before they harden).

Tadaaa, your soaps are ready!
